Home & Garden

There are lots of ways to be environmentally friendly in & around the home, & many of the things you can do also lead to a healthier lifestyle.

As our children grow up we must teach them to enjoy & prepare healthy food. Much of the food available to us in supermarkets is grown miles away, is mass produced using chemicals, processed in factories & over packaged. It teaches our children nothing about where food comes from, how to cook it & eat healthily. We can avoid pre-packed food & cook as many meals as possible from scratch. Watching us cook will make our children want to do the same.

The garden is a great place for exercise, whether it's running around after a ball, playing hide-and-seek, climbing trees or digging holes in the garden. It's also a place your children can explore nature & discover biodiversity in action. If you start a compost heap you can give nature a helping hand as well as grow some vegetables.

In the home we should save energy & water wherever possible by turning things off & switching to less energy thirsty activities & appliances.
