Meal Times
At Meal Times we can reduce unnecessary waste by avoiding pre-packed food. Opting instead for loose vegetables, meat from the butchers & bread from the bakers & cooking as many meals as possible from scratch. Watching you cook will spark an interest in your children to do the same. Packed lunches can be made at home with your children & packed in reusable boxes. Our children are more inclined to eat what they have helped to prepare.
If you want to avoid chemicals opt for organic food or, better still, grow/make your own. If you’ve never grown vegetables before start with something simple (find out what grows well in your area). There is little more satisfying than bringing food in from your garden, throwing it into a pot, then onto a plate & straight into your children's mouths.
Take it one step further & use your vegetable peel to make compost to grow next year’s vegetables in & collect rain water in a butt to water them with.
